There are many activities for your enjoyment in your free time.
San Cristóbal is a sleepy and very relaxed island in the Galapagos with little changing from day to day. It has about 8,000 people living here. You will find yourself with plenty of free time outside your volunteer schedule. Volunteers typically work between 20 and 30 hours weekly from Monday to Friday.
Volunteers generally live together at our Eco-Reserve in El Progreso in the Highlands, and often coordinate social meals, visits to night-life hotspots, beaches and local sites before or after volunteer activities, and during weekends. They also go on trips to nearby islands, such as Isabela, Floreana and Santa Cruz.
Additionally, we observe the same national holidays as the rest of Ecuador, so plan your trip accordingly to make the most of your time here.
Our volunteers often head to nearby islands like Santa Cruz and Isabela, so build in weekends or post-project days to explore the beautiful places accessible from San Cristóbal.
